River Flow International recently conducted a specialized Teacher capacity-building training focused on enhancing the use of Science Kit materials in the classroom. The training was intended to equip science teachers with knowledge and skills to effectively use items in the New Approach Primary Integrated Science Kit to conduct practical science lessons and improve learner engagement in learning primary integrated science.
The training covered essential topics such as effective experimentation, creative lesson planning, and strategies for student engagement. Teachers were given hands-on experience with Science Kit materials, learning how to integrate them into their lessons to make complex scientific concepts more accessible and exciting.
The training content in general included Fields of Life handing over the science kit to the administration of Jehovah Jireh Nakawuka Modern Primary School, participants’ introduction, presentation of the work done by RIFI and STIA in promoting practical teaching, introduction to practical teaching, science kit components and practical use of the items in the kit by teachers and learners guided by Facilitators, demonstrations and hands-on activities for experiments in science.
Participants praised the practical approach of the training, expressing confidence in their ability to use the kits effectively. The positive feedback has inspired River Flow International to plan additional sessions, further supporting educators in their mission to foster a love of science among students.
By investing in teachers, River Flow International continues to significantly impact the quality of science education, ensuring that students benefit from enriched, hands-on learning experiences.
